Outdoor garden fountains are a way to make an outdoor patio yard unique and peaceful at the same time. There are many variations of garden fountains, some of which are complex and artistic while others are more simple and modern looking. The price range on garden fountains also varies according to the materials that are used, the size and how ornate the fountain is. Simple fountains can run around one hundred fifty dollars while large, ornate ones can run about two thousand dollars. The fountains are usually shipped in pieces so that the individual will have to set up the fountain once it is brought to the home or office. If the fountain is bought in a store, there are sometimes set up fees that can be paid to have the garden fountain brought to the home or office and set up.

There are some garden fountains that are ornately made out of marble or slate. One such fountain is made as a statue of St. Francis. This fountain hangs on the wall and is carved so that the saint is looking down on the garden below. The water runs from the basket in his hands down to the pool at his feet. Another ornately made garden fountain is one that is carved of copper and slate. The outer rim is made of copper so that it shines brilliantly around the slate that is within. There is a pot of roses carved into the slate, and the pot brims over as the fountain which runs into the trough below it. Still another type fountain is the solar fountain. This type of fountain will save money on energy since it is powered by the sun.

For those that do not care about the power bill, there are usually more options in styles in fountains that are not solar powered. These fountains still recycle the water within the fountain so that it is not wasted, nor does it need to be hooked to a water supply. Instead, the individual will need to check the water level on a regular basis to keep the fountain filled if the water evaporates, especially during the hot days of summer. Otherwise, once the outdoor garden fountain is set up, the individual does not need to do any more to maintain it in most cases.
Some outdoor garden fountains can be very ornate. For instance, there is a garden wall fountain that is made to look like a Mediterranean arched wall. The inner backing of the fountain where the water flows is tiled with blue and tan tiles. In the center is a flower made of marble out of which the water flows. Surrounding the center backing of tile is an arch of tan stones and surrounding that arch is another arch of multicolored stones in a pattern.
