If you are a hot tub owner you will want to keep up the maintenance on your hot tub as well as protect your investment with a hot tub cover. But if you don’t own a hot tube then you might think that all hot tub covers are created equal, althought this isn’t the case.   We’ll explain why in this article.

Evaporating Water

You may know that you don’t drain your water every time you use your spa hot tub; this would be impractical and somewhat impossible.  Hot tub covers therefore protect your water from evaporating and from impurities.  Think of a very old, dirty pool whose water is muddy, yellow, and full of leaves and dirt.   That’s exactly what your hot tub would look like if you didn’t protect it with one of the right hot tub covers available for your make and model.   And yes, some water will always evaporate with use and over time, however, by using the proper cover, you can eliminate a great deal of this evaporation and save yourself an impossible water bill.

For Safety

If a small child or baby fell into your hot tub and drowned it would be a catastrophe. You would be totally devastated and the guilt and sorrow would be unbearable, plus you might get sued if it were someone else’s child.   Quality hot tub covers protect against this type of accident or tragedy from happening, not just to children, but to pets and small animals as well.

If fact a alot of cities require some sort of hot tub cover to be properly installed to make it safe. Failer to comply will result in actual fines depending on the city you live in!

Finding The Best Cover

Hot tub covers are not all created equal. Most high quality tub lids will have at least 1 1/2lbs of dense foam so that it will properly insulate the water and provide protection from someone falling in. However don’t go overboard in this area. If you have too much foam density then the cover may becom awkward and hard to maneuver.

You should consult the tub manufacturer and get the one that is recommended and comes with a good warranty. The merchant may be able to help you with your budget and needs, and also give you tips on how it should fit.
